Sitting here wondering if I'm Pollyanna or Eeyore - Day 337: More storms and Bridget

Fell in love with pears and raspberries ( leftover from Steve's divinely yummy raspberry coulis that he used on my birthday cake on Saturday night) today ... before another storm rolled in (the latest in a long line) just as I was heading out to a combined birthday dinner and movie with Bridget in Newtown. By the time we reached Newtown, the water was ridiculously high but we managed to find a park and not get sploshed by buses racing past on King Street - I leapt delicately out of the way at one point much to Bridget's amusement) - before heading in to see Nightcrawler with dinner at Happy Chef afterwards. Bridget also very sweetly took me in to HUM and told me to pick out anything I wanted as a present. A wonderful, fabulous night ...

Thank you for my present Bridget!!

And Rachel sent me a pic of her and my mum and Jordan celebrating Nanna's retirement home Christmas at mum and dad's place because Nanna doesn't like the formal events ...

And here's a fabulous shot of Amie and Noah ... just gorgeous ...

Sitting here wondering if I'm Pollyanna or Eeyore - Day 288: Happy Birthday Waz!

Happy Birthday Waz!

Met him at Zanzibar about 5.15 or so, had a wine or two then off to see Pride at a preview - it was WONDERFUL!! - then a birthday dinner at Happy Chef before a lovely walk home.

What a flattering pic of me - double chin, look of terminal surprise; at least the birthday boy looked good!

Sitting here wondering if I'm Pollyanna or Eeyore - Day 257: There is Magic in the Moonlight of Newtown

Off to Dendy in Newtown to see Magic in the Moonlight, Woody Allen's latest film which was fun if not as good as his usual fare ...

Had drinks at Zanzibar on the rooftop - vodka and lime and soda drinks were just $5 each so we had two apiece - and dinner at Happy Chef ...

Meanwhile Zara and Bodhi had a fun cousins day out, with my sisters in tow of course, at the annual House With No Steps fete ...

He

Sitting here wondering if I'm Pollyanna or Eeyore - Day 85: Jobs and the art of movie going

Early morning walk to see my lovely Communicare person ... in pouring rain ... thankfully brought an umbrella in case the heavens opened.

Alas Newtown's gutters overfilled almost instantly and my though my top stayed dry, my sneakers did not which made browsing in HUM etc afterwards a tad uncomfortable.

Um .. okey-dokey then ...

Waz was coming back from a doctor's appointment and we caught up for a quick cheap bite to eat at one of the new cafes next to Newtown station ...

Back home to apply for jobs, blog etc then back to Newtown that night to see a preview of The Grand Budapest Hotel with Waz, followed by dinner at Happy Chef afterwards ...

Holding the Reins of the Runaway Extrovert 2013: Day 191 - Movie date with my guy

To the movies with my guy who was in town! Yay!

Saw Only God Forgives which was visually great but narratively lacking.

Then a yummy dinner of fried rice at Happy Chef across the street.

Lovely night out ... shame about the movie.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 173 - Cold morning ... warm evening with my guy

Cold, damn cold this morning but my scarf kept me toasty warm ...

After a walk with Waz that night, I was picked up by my guy and we had dinner at Happy Chef on King Street followed by a snuggly romantic walk along King Street ...

Bliss.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 155 - Jason is in da house!

My lovely friend Jason from Brizvegas and I caught up for a day of movies and food and lots of indepth and fun talking. It got truncated a little so he could catch up with a new Sydney-based love interest but that was fine because we still got to see a fab French movie, Declaration of War, ate a delicious brunch, lunch at Happy Chefwalked up and down King Street shopping and stopping for drinks at Coopers and Zanzibar... and besides when all is said and done, I want Jason to be happy so yielding time for him to see this guy is more than worth it.

A wonderful fabulous day with a special awesome friend.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 53 -

Big day!

Or rather night.

I dashed from work to Spidersgroup (my writing group) where I ate far too many hot chips, drank a divine caramel milkshake (City Extra may be a tourist trap with prices to match but oh my lord on a trike made of fair floss, the caramel milkshakes are a sign there is a god, and he likes sugar!), and didn't write much...

... before dashing off to Newtown (after missing the 7.42 train because I sat on the wrong platform!) for a Mardi Grad Film Festival movie, Harvest, a VERY slow moving German movie which while it tried to tell a sweet love story between two farmhands, failed miserably. Thank goodness for the delightful company of Fahmi and Ian, vanilla ice cream chic tops and yummy fried rice for dinner (@ Happy Chef beforehand!).

Oh, and here's the latest shot of my darling nephew, Bodhi, in his new cardboard home:

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 21 (Saturday 21 January) - Zzzzzz

Brunch at Noemi's Cafe in Sydney Park with Waz on a very rainy day ( we decided at that point to not go to Symphony in the Domain later that day; of course it fined up into a beautiful night!) - service slow but food great and we saw a pimped up purple car parked out on the street. So cool!

So instead of heading into the City, we went to Newtown - Stephen Moore, Fahmi and John Piccles, my gorgeous guy and me - to see the delightful film Hugo with dinner at cheap and cheerful Chinese restaurant, Happy Chef afterwards. A fabulous night out!
