Sitting here wondering if I'm Pollyanna or Eeyore - Day 311: Jacarandas, Jason Lee and Noah

The Jacaranda trees are in full bloom on Coulson Street and they remind me so much of growing up in Grafton and its Jacaranda Festival.

Then met up with Jason Lee who was back in town for a few days before heading out to Sierra leone to be part of the admin of the fight against Ebola. Brave man! So good to see him and Luke and Jeremy and yes the food at Stir Crazy has improved!

And here's another shot of my super adorable gorgeous nephew Noah ...

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 309 - Thai the day up

After a wonderfully relaxing day - slept in then Steve did errands at this place while I blogged and cleaned up at home - we finished up with dinner at Stir Crazy Thai with some wine on a perfect balmy evening at an outdoor table.

Perfect way to end things.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 279 - Great day on the trains

A divine moment on Cityrail ...

But that wasn't the only divine part of today.

I caught dinner with my guy at Stir Crazy Thai after my physio visit - yes finally realised the back wasn't going to magically get better of its own accord and I felt much better after seeing Brett - then we dashed to the airport to collect my wonderful friend Kerry who was down from Brisbane ...

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 271 - Mixed bag ... and Thai

The day started with sad news that Andy Williams, one of the old time crooners and someone I remember Mum and Dad liking had died ...

In the middle of a busy day Waz sent me a text saying "thank goodness for the Ellen show" and a pic of a shirtless Joseph Gordon-Levitt (YUM!!) ...

And finally that night my gorgeous guy returned from Bathurst and we had dinner at Stir Crazy Thai outside in a light refreshing breeze (first time since the infamous food poisoning incident months ago) ...

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 162 - Graffiti, Glowing Ducks, and Ga Prow-Gai

I was in a train to work that would have looked right at home in a slum somewhere... don't think Cityfail has any idea what cleaning this might entail so has abandoned the idea altogether.

Fun thing happened at work - Danielle's mum sent a four pack of glow-in-the-dark rubber duckies. So much fun!

It inspired this post on writing bar.com

Then I had a gloriously romantic dinner with my beautiful man before he left for Bathurst at Stir Crazy Thai. It was sappy, sweet and he fussed over me and made me feel like a king.

I love him.

(Alas it was after this meal at about 1.30 am that I woke up feeling very sick and stayed awake for 3 hours trying not to vomit but using the toilet actively in another way.)

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 93 - Glorious day of annual leave

Loved it!

Woke up at 6 a.m. - my body is still adjusting to non daylight saving and thought it was really 7 a.m. - and started cleaning up my room. Filed away a lot of stuff on my desk, went through some tubs, re-sorted all them , cleaned old clothes out of the wardrobe and re-organised that, shredded heaps of old documents, cleaned the fridge, cleaned out kitchen cupboard, sorted DVDs... so much done!

Also found time to nap, swam 500m (not as much as normal but I am under physic's orders), watched 6 episodes of GRIMM (adore the lead actor, David Giuntoli) and had dinner with my lovely man at Stir Crazy outside on a balmy beautiful night.

As perfect as a day off gets really.

Except it got dark REALLY early. I did not like... I miss the evening light...

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 75 - The horror and the happiness of life

Tonight did not start well.

In fact, it was hell on earth. The poorly maintained Cityrail network experienced another of its all too frequent "signal failures" plunging every commuter into layers of horror even Dante would struggle to comprehend. Trains were listed on the electronic boards, were supplanted in the order of priority by others or simply ceased to exist at all.

As usually happens in these instances, the Inner West ceased to exist as a destination. So any trains going to Newtown/Macdonaldtown (on one line) or Erskineville/St Peters on my usual line essentially stopped running. It took me just over an hour to have a train turned up going to Erskineville - and by turn up I mean actually physically materialise at the platform as opposed to just being promised like some sort of public transport prick tease - and then the train sat outside Central for 10 minutes with no explanation.

I was supposed to be going to Newtown to have dinner with Justin as a new place we both wanted to try called "Sultan's Table". In the end, when trains to Newtown went the way of the Dodo, we had to rearrange our plans and we needed up having dinner at Stir Crazy Thai at Erskineville since that was a station I could actually reach. Eventually.

I arrived at Erskineville beyond angry and unfortunately my anger leaked a little onto Justin, poor guy. Thankfully he is a very dear, sweet friend, let me get the anger out of my fashion, realised any accidental anger splashing was not personal, and we settled into an absolutely delightful wonderful night that was so good I was almost skipping as I went home.

Thank the universe for friends as wonderful as Justin and the time to properly spend with them.

He saved my night.

Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 277 (Tuesday 54 October) - Au Revoir Ian

My dear friend Ian is off to Europe for almost 3 weeks to see his lovely German guy, Ingo, who you may recall has lived in Australia on and off over the last few years. Taking in Germany (Dusselldorf & Munich), the Netherlands, and Croatia, I know they're going to have an awesome time.

So to say goodbye, and because he was staying close by at Warren's for the night so he could be close to the airport, we had a send off for him - Ian, Waz, my guy and me, Peter, and Fahmi) at The Hive Bar (where we started to participate in the trivia contest till our dinner reservation) and then Stir Crazy Thai.

Fabulous night, great wine and walks to and from... oh, and no shots of food Bill if you're reading!

Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 258 (Thursday 15 September) - On the Road (Show) Again

An early mark of sorts today to attend a roadshow - major division wide presentation - of the division that was behind the It Gets Better video. The event was held at The Big Top @ Luna Park (Sydney), from which the views are amazing, and was unlike anything my division can afford to do - multimedia, blaring rock music, waitered drinks and canapes afterwards - and most importantly the public preview of the video which really seemed to affect a number of people. I was there with my new work friend, Brett, a 22 year bright extrovert who is also in the video and a really lovely guy.

It was such a good afternoon in fact that it was totally worth the mad frantic morning of manic work from 7.30 - 1 that preceded it.

Followed it up that night with dinner with my wonderful friend, Waz @ Stir Crazy Thai. Yum food, lovely cool but pleasant evening (so we sat outside), and a great conversation.... perfect end to an amazing day.
