Sitting here wondering if I'm Pollyanna or Eeyore - Day 313: Happy Birthday Steve Moore and Aidan

It was a day for birthday celebrations (after brunch and some Jacaranda tree admiring naturally) ... first Steve Moore's at the Beresford Hotel where we met up with people like David and Matt, Helen Nolan, Barbara, John Piccles and Adrian, had some drinks, lots of laughs and then went home via train ...

Steve cooked this at his place. YUM!!

We stopped off for an afternoon snack on the way to Steve's party at the cafe where we bought Aidan's giant Nutella

Holding the Reins of the Runaway Extrovert 2013: Day 272 - Riding the trains

Had some stuff to do at home then took train to Petersham where Steve picked me up ... empty station at Macdonaldtown but beautiful cool wind and quite peaceful.

Took all my stuff as we're off to Bathurst in the morning!

Holding the Reins of the Runaway Extrovert 2013: Day 59 - Haircut ... and a big walk.

What a night!

Another #cityfail debacle as loose plates on Harbour Bridge shut off all North Shore trains in both directions forcing me to walk across the Bridge again. Took 40 minutes including train from Circ Quay to Town Hall to get to haircut at Just Cuts.

Was so tired had sushi at Makanai for dinner then bought some DVDs and CDs at JB.

Home to watch an episode of Modern Family with Aidan and to eat two hot cross buns with butter.

Night ended well with a call from my guy.

... and finally the haircut!

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 279 - Great day on the trains

A divine moment on Cityrail ...

But that wasn't the only divine part of today.

I caught dinner with my guy at Stir Crazy Thai after my physio visit - yes finally realised the back wasn't going to magically get better of its own accord and I felt much better after seeing Brett - then we dashed to the airport to collect my wonderful friend Kerry who was down from Brisbane ...

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 261 - Busy Monday

After the beauty of the Central Coast on Saturday ...

I was confronted with the usual grey of Cityfail today ...

C'est la vie.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 61 - Back at work

Crazy busy day....like I didn't see that coming after three days away off sick.

Late finish at 6.40 and then missed train I wanted home so not home till 8pm (but saw this cool graffiti on the train floor). Thankfully dinner - kanga bangas and veges pre cooked so sat back on a wet night, watched two more episodes of Eureka and kicked back.

I was more exhausted that I realised after feeling OK during the day.

Sleep came easily.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 39 - Great night at Spiders group!

I finally made it to my writers group tonight!

They had already met twice this year but thanks to having to meet with my insurer on one Wednesday and Open Air Cinema tickets on the next, this was the night I made and it was so good to see everyone! I'd missed them. I had lovely long involved chats with Nick, Kris, Selina, and Jacq who, it turns out, loves much of the same music I do!

I even wrote the first 680 words of a story I had no intention of writing when I got there but which flowed out of me during the 1/2 hour quiet writing time between 7 and 7.30.

The only slight problem was Cityrail delaying my train by 15 minutes but I made it home in time for Outland, a new ABC comedy about gay sic-fi nerds which I adored. (My review is here.)

Oh and the photo is of Circular Quay and the Harbour which frankly made the longer than expected wait at Circular Quay station a whole lot more bearable.

Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 312 (Tuesday 8 November) - It was a dark and stormy day

After a day so humid, even my water was wet with sweat (hmm that sounded evocative in my head but now sounds vaguely, well, odd), a great and mighty storm worthy of directing by Cecil B Demille swept over the harbour. While we debated whether it was in fact a storm, or aliens invading (a la Independence Day), which was an idea suggested by my delightful colleague, Rose, it unleashed a fearsome amount of wind, and rain and, well, Cityrail on-time-schedule-destroyingness.

Thinking the worst was over, I headed home after about 6.20 p.m. to cook dinner for my guy only to found myself stuck at Milsons Point station for 20 minutes, not the usual three (thanks to signal issues at St Leonards station) and then Wynyard for at least another 40 minutes more. Wynyard was just dandy because it felt like a greenhouse, and while I long one day to foster my interest in succulent and home grown vegetables (wanting that is about as likely as Tony Abbott wanting to contribute cohesive thoughts to a policy debate), today was not the day I wanted to begin that, if ever.

Thank the weather gods, I finally made it to St Peters station by 7.45 p.m., having long since told my beloved to save himself and grab dinner while I watched cacti flourish on the Wynyard platforms, grabbed some lentils, naan bread and a bhaji, and headed home, exhausted after what had been till then, a super fab totally like glitter kitten day dancing down the street in a multi-coloured parade of wonderfulness...wait, where I was I? Oh yes...anyway, I was TIRED and so I watched an episode of Eureka, ate the Indian, spoke to my guy (somewhat grouchily which wasn't fair since he is so very lovely)...and didn't catch a train anywhere. At all...
