Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 68 - Acting like Noah

Wow so much rain!

I took my gigantic umbrella to work with me - ye olde FedEx one - and it still wasn't enough to protect me from squalling winds, driving rains and rivers running across roads and down footpaths. It was, I am told by the Sydney Morning Herald, the wettest March day in 30 years.

I'd believe it. I got to work with my jeans two-toned, the part beneath the knees soaked, and the thighs wet. My short tails wet, and my socks deeply, uncomfortably soaked through. Thank goodness for a heater that dried everything out!

It had all cleared by the afternoon and I had a dry trip home thank the weather gods...

Leaving home - just outside front door

Delightful two-toned jeans

The lakes of Milson's Point

I work by the Harbour. No, really I do. See I... oh never mind...

The Harbour returns...

The socks find their dryness

While I work in bare feet for much of the day

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 67 - Hump Day!

Busy day at work, chilled night at home after my dinner date (Sandra T) had to re-schedule.

So in honour Hump Day...

That is all...

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 66 - Catch up with Sammi

I finally got to catch up with my darling friend Sammi tonight in Surry Hills at a Vietnamese fusion restaurant called Cochin. They have a $30 banquet deal which is great value - 4 entrees (including delicious prawn rice paper roll), 2 mains, panda rice, and dessert and tea. It was totally delicious and we had an awesomely good time talking and talking and laughing and.... it was brilliant.

These Discount Chemists are spreading like a plague. I loathe them. Especially when they replace funky music stores like HUM.

I finally made it to the Mardi Gras parade route 3 days late. Not quite as festive as it would have been on Saturday.

Itsy bitsy deli shy spring rolls and the rice paper roll

Creme Caramel and Chocolate Mousse - YUMMMMM!
The delightful Sammi who I miss seeing at work every day.

Yep this will help me get thin!

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 65 - Walking Fast Up That Hill

Back to walking today!

Well OK I walk ALL the time clearly. But I mean the fast-paced exercising type of walking which leads to a thinner and fitter body.

Walked in the morning at 5 a.m. and then went for another walk when I got home with my wonderful friend, Waz. He's in Perth for work for the next 6 months and so we can only go walking together every so often. Tonight was one of those nights and as we walked 5km around Sydney Park, laughing and joking and catching up on life I thought I love hanging with him and love getting fit all at once.

Yes it involved exercise but it was a lot of fun. I miss him being around.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 64 - Visions of Celluloid

My friend Jason is in town so that means one thing - MOVIE MARATHON!

We both love movies, and while we have scaled down since our glory days of three movies in a day - after the infamous Renee Zellweger movie of which no more will be said - we did go to see two, but sensibly spaced apart. My gorgeous guy Steve came along too which was wonderful as hand holding in a dark cinema is one of the great perks of movie going as a couple.

Jason ready for the first movie. (I actually tried to get a Smurf from the machine next to me, and surprise, surprise, it didn't work! LOL)

First up was My Weekend With Marilyn, which was brilliant. A lovely glimpse of the closest thing we will likely get to the real Marilyn Monroe. (You can read my review here.) Then after lunch at Bacco cafe  on the upper level of QVB, where the food and service was lovely (contrary to my expectations since a lot of the City-based cafes tend to be drab and unimaginative and skewed to tourists). Then we wandered through the shops on the top level which is always fun.

Then off to The Vow, which wasn't as good as the first movie since it wasn't sure if it was a romantic comedy or a drama, but still very enjoyable. (You can read my review here.).

I think Steve is happy to be there!

Last stop after a drive back from the City - we saw both movies at Event Cinemas, George Street - was The Bank for a farewell drink which was awesome. We got seats at the window benches and walked a (VERY) attractive world go by.

My beautiful man waiting to buy drinks

It was so good to see Jason, and spend some time with him. What a good friend!

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 63 - Nyet to Mardi Gras

We go to watch the Mardi Gras parade every year.

But not this year. After MUCH painful discussion, we all decided (me reluctantly but then I hate missing out on anything) to forgo the parade because of the unending rain, and settle instead for dinner at Sherpa's Kitchen followed by dessert at Buzzzbar. I did feel like I was missing out to some extent but we (Waz, Peter, Ian, my guy and me) had a lovely time catching up and I was glad we didn't stand out on a rain street for hours on end, no matter how fab the event may be.

But before that big night out, I spent a lovely day with my wonderful friend from Brisbane, Jason, who was down to march in the Freedom2B float in the parade. My gorgeous guy Steve & I had brunch with him at Cafe C then while Steve dashed home to finish up some stuff at his home, Jason and I wandered King Street checking out all the music, books and finishing up with a lovely drink at the Bank Hotel before he went into the City to get ready to march. (We stopped back at my place in the middle of all this so Steve could grab some stuff he'd left there, and Jason's fab pink sequinned hat caught the light in the lift well; instant pink disco ball!)

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 61 - Back at work

Crazy busy day....like I didn't see that coming after three days away off sick.

Late finish at 6.40 and then missed train I wanted home so not home till 8pm (but saw this cool graffiti on the train floor). Thankfully dinner - kanga bangas and veges pre cooked so sat back on a wet night, watched two more episodes of Eureka and kicked back.

I was more exhausted that I realised after feeling OK during the day.

Sleep came easily.
