Holding the Reins of the Runaway Extrovert 2013: Day 283 - Up and at 'em!

It's supposed to get to 39C today so headed out at 5.30am, after a rocky night's sleep and 4 am awakening, to walk my early morning circuit that I haven't done in ages.

Loved it - music loud, got a good pace going and managed to do the whole 7km + feed Fahmi's cat Simone and get back home in 55 minutes. Yay!

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 356 - Finally ...

Finally made it out walking.

Really shouldn't have as late to bed and up at 3.30 to write more blog posts but glad I did in the end as (a) more alert on BUSY day at work and (b) got some shots of Newtown shop windows.

Satellite cafe

And Rachel sent me some shots of Bodhi, my darling nephew.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 243 - Behold the sunrise

Out walking early again with Fahmi.

Tired after walking twice yesterday - with Fahmi in the morning and with Waz at night - but any exhaustion wiped by seeing the beautiful colours and cloud formations at sunrise.

And the day ended with gorgeous pink-hued sunsets over the Harbour.

The perfect visual bookend.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 144 - Walkies!

Up at 5 am for another walk in the autumn cold with Fahmi!

Even managed to send Warren a farewell text as I walked fast along our usual route, as he prepared to fly back to Perth for another two weeks work.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 122

Back walking today - and bizarrely when I have had enough sleep, I actually like the early starts.

Oh and the photo wasn't deliberate. I forgot to switch off the alarm, the alarm went off in a VERY quiet lobby at 4.54am when I was waiting for the lift and its got accidentally taken when I was trying to shut it the hell up!

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 80 - Walking around the park

I went walking tonight!

I am exultant because after sleeping in yesterday and not swimming last night and then sleeping in again today I was determined to go swimming tonight. I needed to exercise.

But as I got home I realised I didn't have the motivation to go swimming but as luck would have it my housemate Aidan was going walking around the park and so seizing the little momentum I had, I joined him. We had a great time walking twice around the park, chatting away.

And in case you think I am making this up to ease a guilty conscience here is proof we walked together and a view of the City from what we call Hell Hill (it's tall and steep... enough said)

Oh and in other exciting news I backed a project in Kickstarter (it's called crowd funding and is a great way for creative types to get funding) for a second series of Husbands, a fantastically funny web series about two guys who impulsively marry each other in Las Vegas, just hours after Federal same sex laws are passed in the USA. It is so exciting to be a part of this and help them realise their creative goals. Plus for just $55, I got a DVD of the first series, signed photo etc... Excited!!

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 73 - New sneakers

I road tested my new $70 sneakers (down from $120 at Rebel - yay!) today and they were great.

I went out walking with my good friend Fahmi and while the shoes did their usual new shoe thing and pinched my toes, they were contour to my feet and all will be well.

The best thing is that now with more support, my legs aren't aching which they do when the shoes are old and can't protect my legs from the shock of walking 7km on the footpath.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 65 - Walking Fast Up That Hill

Back to walking today!

Well OK I walk ALL the time clearly. But I mean the fast-paced exercising type of walking which leads to a thinner and fitter body.

Walked in the morning at 5 a.m. and then went for another walk when I got home with my wonderful friend, Waz. He's in Perth for work for the next 6 months and so we can only go walking together every so often. Tonight was one of those nights and as we walked 5km around Sydney Park, laughing and joking and catching up on life I thought I love hanging with him and love getting fit all at once.

Yes it involved exercise but it was a lot of fun. I miss him being around.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 38 -

After almost two weeks of no exercise so my back could recover, I went walking tonight.

Admittedly for only about 5km, 2km less than normal but it was a good walk even so and I felt all the better for doing it. Hopefully after my physic session this Friday night, I will have the go ahead to get back to normal exercise and life can take on a semblance of its former self.

No, trust me, I didn't walk this fast!

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 12 - So healthy I am glowing

Well not exactly but that would be really cool right?

No, what I am in fact is thrilled that I am finally back on a dedicated exercise and healthy eating regimen. It's taken months to get back into the swing but even though I loved Christmas and New Year, the excess consumption finally motivated me to get back to low calorie eating (with a few exceptions like tomorrow's night's pizza and wine with the boys, and Saturday's Yum Cha for Tracy's birthday) and proper exercise.

While I didn't exercise today thanks to sleeping in this morning and some shopping at JB Hi-Fi World Square tonight - where I got the awesomely healthy and yummy salads in the picture - I had swum on Sunday and Tuesday, and power walked Monday and Wednesday nights with my friend Waz around Sydney park (just under 6km each time). The plan is to swim at least once on the weekend and then get back to walking EVERY week day morning from here on in.

Pumpkin and couscous salad at the top, pumpkin and chickpeas in the middle and Persian Rice (wild rice + almonds + sultanas) at the bottom)

I love how I feel when I am toned and in shape. I feel far better and power through life with much more enthusiasm than if I eat crap and sit around. Admittedly I love junk food so giving it up isn't easy - especially with a pantry still full of chocolate etc - but definitely worth it. Besides, if you do without something most of the time, you appreciate it all the more when you do have it.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 4 - Exercise ahoy!

Back out walking this morning after increasingly feeling like a lump of lard and feeling so much better for it!

Yes I still love chocolate, especially its Christmas variants like chocolate sultanas and Lindor Balls, but I love feeling taut, trim and energised even more, and today I felt like I had my vim and vigour back.

Now to get back into swimming too...

Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 276 - If You Go Down To the Park Today....

Today, being a public holiday (which by law must be spent doing as little as possible, while deliberately avoiding any hint of Outlook controlled activities), my gorgeous guy and I slept in, ate crumpets on the balcony (as one does, doncha know), and then went for a long, meandering walk in Sydney Park - the weather was sunny but with a crisp, cool breeze, the wetlands full of ducks and Pea Hens, and with my guy holding hands with you, the walk was damn near perfect. Here is what we saw:
