Holding the Reins of the Runaway Extrovert 2013: Day 30 - Off to Tre Viet

Due to our late arrival back into town last night (via Countrylink train), Steve didn't go to Bathurst today and so we had a lovely date night dinner at Tre Viet in Newtown, (After I grabbed my Entertainment Weekly mags from MagNation.)

Loved just kicking back, eating Vietnamese pancakes, chill and lemongrass seafood and papaya salad, and lazily talking.

Perfect.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 238 - Go Hawkers!

Great day at the footy!

Yes the footy! Again.

Caught the train in and out from Dulwich Hill station

After seeing Hawthorn lose to the Swans two years ago, this time they won! By 7 points after a tense back and forth match that saw each team take the lead by the slimmest of margins only to lose a goal or kick later. Fantastic, adrenaline-pumping stuff and I loved it.

We went with Steve's friend Chris from Canberra who LOVES AFL and his beloved Hawthorn, and during the game he listened to the commentary on his radio to keep up with things we might have missed seeing.

I bought a Hawthorn beanie, to go with the scarf Carolyn gave me two years ago, we all had beer or wine (Steve had a dickie seat and it tipped him forward at one point spilling his beer on the older lady in front; she handled it very well) and sausage rolls and a Crunchie bar, I ate all the nails down to my fingers, and I got group hugged by happy drunk Hawthorn fans on the way out of the SCG grounds.

And we finished off the day with a delicious dinner at Bau Truong in Marrickville before crashing for the night (Christ stayed on the fold out couch at Steve's).

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 234 - Pho crying out loud!

A delightful catch up dinner with Peter at I Love Pho in Crows Nest - sugar cane prawn was divine as was the seas salt sprinkled chicken - and followed by yummy gelato at Sparrow (love the Salted Caramel!).

But trip home awful as trains gone to crap AGAIN. Dropped off at Milsons Point station and home just after 10pm via Newtown and a longer walk than expected.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 66 - Catch up with Sammi

I finally got to catch up with my darling friend Sammi tonight in Surry Hills at a Vietnamese fusion restaurant called Cochin. They have a $30 banquet deal which is great value - 4 entrees (including delicious prawn rice paper roll), 2 mains, panda rice, and dessert and tea. It was totally delicious and we had an awesomely good time talking and talking and laughing and.... it was brilliant.

These Discount Chemists are spreading like a plague. I loathe them. Especially when they replace funky music stores like HUM.

I finally made it to the Mardi Gras parade route 3 days late. Not quite as festive as it would have been on Saturday.

Itsy bitsy deli shy spring rolls and the rice paper roll

Creme Caramel and Chocolate Mousse - YUMMMMM!
The delightful Sammi who I miss seeing at work every day.

Yep this will help me get thin!

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 55 - TGIF Date Night

I love date night!

We have them whenever we can, especially since my guy is away most of the week for work and so tonight to make it even more special, we tried out a new very funky Vietnamese restaurant in Marrickville that he'd seen from the bus.

It was delightfully authentic - if you ignored the bold, colourful Kabuki masks adoring the main wall and ceiling, which are a tad too north and, uh, Japanese to be endemic of Indochina - and packed to the rafters. Modern decor but fun at the same time, with great service, exquisitely flavourful food, and of course, my beautiful man for company.

We will definitely be back.

Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 227 - Escalating Me to Culinary Heights

After over 5 weeks of emergency repairs, the escalators at Wynyard station finally started working again today! It only took 5 weeks of emergency repairs to get this happening - I will never rely on Cityrail to save me in the event of an emergency that's for sure!

But my elation over Cityfail finally getting the parts imported from a lonely factory in Tashkent, was nothing compared to having dinner with my gorgeous guy. He made the most delicious Vietnamese spring rolls using some chicken we had got for dinner over the weekend and a whole slew of fresh delicious veges, all while we watched the latest episodes of Miranda, and Collision on ABC2... then Q&A during which I tweeted like crazy! I love our lazy Monday nights together.
