Holding the Reins of the Runaway Extrovert 2013: Day 197 - Sick day 2

Another day confined to bed - bar trip to the doctor and to the chemist to get medical supplies, and 1 1/2 hours spent setting tweets and Facebook posts for work again - during which I napped lots, watched Ellen and finished off the last 250-300 pages of Shift.

And as an unexpected treat, Steve dropped over with "medicine" aka a packet of Lindt balls to help with my recovery (it was an enormously sweet touching gesture, made all the more impressive because he drove from his home straight after work to deliver them and then turned around and went home again - he's the loveliest man EVER and I ADORE him).

Holding the Reins of the Runaway Extrovert 2013: Day 196 - Sick day 1

Off sick today.

I couldn't stop coughing and felt utterly miserable.

Spent much of the day in bed - bar trips to the kitchen to get food and 1 hour setting up tweets and Facebook posts for work - napping and watching TV including of course Ellen.

And I finally got to eat the croissants that Steve got me to mark Bastille Day (which was yesterday).

Mmm croissants with Berocca ... and Bisolvon ... and Aspro Clears ... delicious!

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 212 - To work ... and back again

I know it sounds like the title of the third Hobbit movie but even though I felt dreadful, I went to work - walking to the train station felt like I was in some weird alternate universe with everything feeling not quite right - to finish off a 6000 word e-report due that day and once done, packed up and headed home ...

... where I slept. A LOT.

So naturally this is an excuse for cat lola pics ... naturally ...

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 171 - At home

Yes I know it's a Monday and I should be at work. But my stomach bug flared up again yesterday afternoon - after vegetable fritata and salad no less! -  and I got really sick and needed a nap before heading out to dinner at Smash Sausage Kitchen (which wasn't a good idea but we had long standing plans for dinner so off I went).

Still didn't feel great today so worked from home for first part of morning and then slept the day away, all the while starving my body of any kind of fancy food... so dry toast, dry crackers and a bowl full of pea and corn for dinner was the order of the day.

Thankfully it did leave me feeling better by day's end thank goodness.

Yes doesn't it look simply delish?! (image via 20sb.net)

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 60 - Sick again

Lots of sleeping, a stupid attempt to work on my blog which failed when I grew exhausted sitting at my computer for about 20 minutes, and at least eight more episodes of Eureka plus two of Warehouse 13 that night with Aidan.

Being sick sucks but it does have one silver lining - lots of TV watched while lying flat on my back, too tired to move.

Oh and it rained a lot....

And my delightful niece Zara reached 100cm in height. My oh my she is going to be tall, and according to her mum and my sister, she is fearless too wanting to go on all the big rides now and loving the water parks where this shot was taken.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 59 - Still sick

Spent the day watching Ellen, and catching up on 4 episodes of Eureka and 5 of Glee.

And walking to the doctor to get checked out in 30+ degree humidity - thankfully doctors surgery, while spartan and industrial, was chilled like a fridge. Bliss.

Back home via Erko shops to get some meds and then home to sleep...

Post- zombie apocalypse industrial. Thankfully doctor warm and friendly.

Funky graffiti on an auctions place near the surgery on way home.

Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 58 - Home James...or Andrew

Three hours at work feeling so spaced out I finally had to leave, go home and sleep, which I did all afternoon.

My gorgeous guy had to work on some stuff that night so I stayed home, watched Alcatraz and took it very easy.

Walking home from the station

Oh and there was a trifling political contest between Rudd and Gillard to see who'd be PM. So little press coverage. Haha!

AND Sandra Bullock looked stunning in her Oscars dress which I watched in my brief moments of wakefulness that afternoon...

Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 262 - Crown Me With One Last Crown

The dentist's waiting room - today was my last visit to the dentist for some time I hope. I got a new crown moulded and lasered and put in place over 2 sometimes painful hours (not so much the tooth but the apparatus to suck all the liquid out when kept digging into my soft pallette).

While the tooth was created in a whiz bang German-made machine, I sat back for 40 minutes of non-invasive reading, although it was odd to sit back in a dentist chair and just read

Here I am in the bastion of pain and soft pallette bruising

I tried to make the sterile dental instruments look vaguely arty and stylish. Not sure I succeeded but I had fun with Instagram trying!

Then it was off home to nurse my sore and battered mouth - my dentist is awesomely good, and very gentle but even so all that poking and prodding, no matter how well done leaves you feeling a tad brusied. I did stop off on the way home to get smoothie supplies so I didn't have to trouble my mouth too much with chewing, and then I sat back, watched The View, napped, read and updated my blogs. Sore mouth aside, it wasn't too bad a day really.

Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 236 - Home Again....Now Not Just Cold But....

.... my back, people, my back!

Not content with letting a miscreant virus run havoc through my system, my body, after careful consideration, and weighing up the many options available to it, decided to throw out my lower back! Now it's not the first time this has happened, as my physio, currently holidaying on Cancun will attest, and it's an annoying side effect of sleeping on my stomach since I was a kid, but I don't think I have ever had my back go out while I was sick with a cold! It was only a matter of time I guess since I spent much of the last four days napping and sleeping at night on my stomach but still..... NOT HAPPY JAN (memo to self : get a new snappy pop culture phrase to denote unhappiness and do it smartly!)

Thankfully once again, Eureka came to the rescue and I watched a lot of season 2 episodes (numbers 5 through 10) in between the napping, Ellen show watching and comfort food eating (cannot wait to get back to exercise and slim down again, yummy though the consumption of obscenely unhealthy food has been, and unquestionably restorative in it's efficacy)
