Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 205 - Brunch on a Day of Darkness

What  a freakishly awful day News wise. First the Norway killings, which were horrifying in their scope, and the utter lack of repentance on the part of the killer; then Amy Winehouse's death, and the bullet train crash in Zhejian Province, China. My first response was to climb back under the doona and hide from the world, a doubly appealing idea since my guy was still in bed with me at the time.

But he had to drive home to work on his report, and so we got up, went out, and had a quick 1 hour brunch with our good friend, Fahmi at South End, a cafe I used to live at but have barely been to in the last year since it changed owners and lost some of it's sheen and lustre. Happy to say it's picked up again with my pineapple/mint frappe as good as always, and the pea and haloumi pancakes light, fluffy and delicious. All very lovely and the perfect antidote to a ghastly day in the wider world.

Finished off the day in Event Cinemas Gold Class with Fahmi, Steve M, John P, Essie and my huy watching the final Harry Potter movie EVER. The movie was awesomely good, the seats oh-so-comfy but the food was, as expected, insanely over priced. Nice and luxurious though and a great way to see such this final ending to such an iconic series. (Everyone bar me had seen the first one together back on 2001 and so regrouping for the final one was a lovely sentimental thing to do.)
