Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 190 (Saturday 9 July) - Chilling and Vietnamese !
Once again my darling man was toiling feverishly in his office on various work projects so I headed off mid morning to get some groceries, do some errands at home before heading back to his place with lean pork & basil sausages in hand, and, it turns out, mouldy bread. The last part was not intentional I must stress, and it was the result of putting the loaf into the fridge a day too late. Thankfully he had a few pieces left in his freezer so disaster was averted and we could enjoy our sangers, BBQ sauce, and onion sandwiches as god intended. The addition of creamy banana (frozen way before the current crazy banana price highs began, lest you think us gauche and nouveau riche) and mango smoothies made it all very yummy on a freezing cold day.
I then retired, as one does, to the bed under the doona and read as much of the paper as I could before a nap came a-callin', and what a delicious nap it was! Refreshed, re-invigorated and re-everything'd (yes that is a crime against the English language but I shall not apologise for it since it suits my jaunty, fun sentence nicely), I leapt from bed, snuggled on the couch this time, and read some more before downloading Imogen Heap's new song, Propellor Seeds, which was, as expected, suitably, pretty, clever, and gorgeously melodic.
Then we headed off for dinner on the road, even though 'Baby its cold outisde', and found ourselves, after much driving up and down the roads of Marrickville, and perusing of Eatability.com.au, at Pho James, a modest yet fun Vietnamese eatery with some very yummy food. It's not quite as good as Minh's in Dulwich Hill, or Tre Viet in Newtown but the service was friendly, warm delicious and quickly delivered (too quickly at one point as mains began to jostle for limited table space with the half-eaten entrees!). Best of all, a lovely chance to sit and talk with my guy, an increasingly rare event in our busy lives, and so, one I cherish more than ever.
