365 Pink Feather Boas All in a Row - Day 187 : Back To The Future??!!

I got the funniest email today sent from my boyfriend who had a friend send it to him, and it speaks volumes about how popular culture doesn't always get it right......

Today is the day that Marty McFly arrived in the future after hitting 88mph in a pimped out Delorean in 1985.



I WANT MY HOVERBOARD!!

Actually I would say popular culture very rarely gets it right, and to be fair, that's to be expected since movies especially, trade on idealized, fun ideas of what the future could be, and not necessarily what technology will give us. Having said that, while we may not have hoverboards, and self drying jackets, we do have marvels like the iPhone, and Skype, which just goes to show that while the stuff of school boy dreams doesn't always come to fruition, we often still end up with a pretty cool slate of things to make our lives more fun and productive than they were.

Even so, I still want my hover board! In bright red if possible... oh and flying car would be good too... red also..... and what about that colony on the moon and......

POSTSCRIPT

It appears I, along with millions of others, was the victim of someone's inability to check their facts. It turns out that today is not Future date at all. Admittedly I should probably have double-checked to be totally fair, but then I haven't watched the movie in years and I really didn't have time to watch it yesterday!
