365 Pink Feather Boas All in a Row - Day 184 (Saturday 3 July 2010) : Long and Winding Road to Brunch

I had  a brilliant idea today!

Well actually a few days earlier, but it was about today so it still counts. The plan was, in its breathless simplicity, to go to Cafe Sofia in Erskineville with my lovely man, and friends Fahmi, Warren and Peter and have brunch. A chance to spend time together as friends and introduce Warren to another cafe near his new abode.

Alas, too many people had the same idea. Well not to introduce Warren to Cafe Sofia as such - I mean, they don't know him, and wanting to introduce total strangers to a cafe is something left to PR agents and sales people acting for a tourism authority - but to go to Cafe Sofia itself. With Cafe Sofis all maxed out, we headed up the road (finding some very funky Alice in Wonderland grafitti street cafe on the side of a wine bar-to-be) to cafe after cafe only to find them all full to pussy's bow (an expression Warren uses that I find rather charming), and this is in an area fit to bursting with scrummy cafes!
My guy and Peter make out like 70s rock stars on an album cover

We were about to head back down King Street to Erskineville when we decided to try one last cafe, Cafe C, and lo' it was open, had spare tables and the food was delish and cheerfully served.
Brunch crisis averted we had a lovely catching up with each other before all doing some shopping at nearby HUM, my favourite record store in the world....and yes, of course, I bought something! (Kylie Minogue's newie, Aphrodite + the new Scool of Seven Bells album)
