Project 289 - Day 76 : O Great Cathode Ray in a Box, Guide Me and Lead Me
It is not true that I worship my TV.
Yes I do have a small altar in the corner of my bedroom where I offer up combustible video tapes (hmm, I guess they all are really aren't they?) and invoke silent prayers to J J Abrams, Marc Cherry and Shonda Rhymes that the creative gods bless their TV endeavours. True I have a life-sized statue of David Tennant from "Dr Who" occupying the corner of my bedroom nearest the bed, aligned to fung shui TV lore.... and granted I have been known to end phone conversations, rush dinner or lose all concentration when my favourite programs start. But worship it?No, of course not - that would be weird.....
But venerate it? Totally, completely bland-in-the -suburbs normal, thank you, and so my weekly act of faith that the week's viewing will be spell-blindingly great, is the purchase of "The Guide", the supplement that graces every Monday's issue of 'The Sydney Morning Herald', which is read cover to cover on the train and bus to work - OK it really doesn't take that long! - ready for me to settle into my chair and watch the 'pretty lights, pretty lights'....
