Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 165 - Peter, resumes, Indian

I met up with Peter after work - he collected me - at Delgardos in McMahons for wine (a gorgeous expensive bottle of Argentinian Shiraz/Grenache) and some small amounts of tapas while we rewrote large slabs of his resume. Two hours of full on work but lots of fun too ... love his company...

Then my gorgeous guy arrived and we decamped to Blu Ginger Indian for a yummy dinner, lots of conversation about Peter's work travails (his company did a spill of positions and he has to go for his job again ... a despicable HR policy if ever there was one!) and life in general and more delicious red wine...

A wonderful night.

Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 351 (Saturday 17 December) - Happy Birthday Peter!

It was my dear friend Peter's birthday dinner tonight - he doesn't officially celebrate the big day till the 22nd, mere days before Christmas - and we decided to leave King Street (yes I know!) and head to the lovely north shore. Pre-dinner drinks were at Delicato's, a funky Spanish wine and beer and tapas place on Blues Point Road, just down from Blu Ginger where we had dinner.

The waiter at Delicato's was so genuinely friendly, and while it isn't cheap, the wines, beers and food are so good it's totally worth what you pay. We gave Peter his presents there and had a lovely time perched high on our stools. We will be back!

Dinner was at Blu Ginger, an Indian restaurant of consistently great food, wonderful service, and fun ambience. We had lots of wine, so much food I was expecting to explode at any moment, and they brought the cake out right on cue, which led to some fun photos of Peter blowing out the candles.

So much food - almond pumpkin lamb, beef madras, a fish curry and... well, it was delicious whatever the fourth one was!

Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 343 - Looks like Blu Ginger to me

With the Christmas picnic looming, and no time left to shop for the food, I used a trip at lunch time to get work mail from Crows Nest to grab the groceries we needed, which I stored at work that night while my gorgeous guy and I had the loveliest TGIF catch up dinner with Peter.

The food was delicious (quite possibly the loveliest food since my dearly departed Posh Spice restaurant in Newtown shuffled off its mortal coil), the service delightful (well the restaurant manager was a hoot anyway) and we just sat back, ate the Bhajia and the yummy mains before Peter and my guy finished off with kulfi and I had galub jamun, which was divine. There was no rush, no hurry - just wine and talking and end of the week chilling...

Peter dropped us back at my work (where I took a photo of my guy earlier against the stunning Harbour view we will be enjoying for NYE - see below), we grabbed the groceries (surprising the very friendly cleaner!) and spent 1 1/4 hours getting home since we had to wait 15 minutes or so for every connection. Honestly it didn't worry me. I was tired sure but I was with the man I love, and the night had been so relaxed that I was happy to take it as it came.

Needless to say I slept well when I did get home.

Oh, and today is the day the St George Open Air cinema program came out. For most people it meant having 6 days to pick what they want to see but because we have early buying privileges as St George customers, we had a day to ingest the whole and pick the movies so we were ready to purchase the next morning. Needless to say Waz and I were busy on the phone at one point!
