Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 37 (Sunday 6 February) - Getting Ready for the Chapel...Melting then Chilled

Next weekend my gorgeous guy and I are travelling down to Melbourne for the wedding of my old house mate, and dear friend, and his lovely fiancee, Monika. I have been asked, along with a close friend Jane (Monika's best friend and old house mate) to give a speech, which Jane & I have decided to do together. It should be a blast incorporating gentle humour with some heart felt thoughts on how lovely these are as individuals and as a couple, and even some Sound of Music songs and Metallica. Yes you heard right!

So today we got together for Yum Cha again, to finish writing the script for it, work out other details, and generally catch up over our mutual favourite food ever - Yum Cha (@ Palace, Piccadilly Arcade, City). It was a brilliantly productive session, we were riffing like mad, and I think we have a speech that will hopefully add to the specialness of the day for them. If nothing else, we had  a ball getting it together, and I am hoping they will love it.

Stuffed to the gills with pork buns and dumplings, I did what I loathe doing and tried on suits for the wedding, since my last one bit the dust some time back. First up a discount place called Voi, which brings in cheap Italian suits from Versace etc. Not a great experience. The suits were baggy, the salesman had no idea what he was doing, and frankly I couldn't wait to get out of there!

By luck, we cut through Westfield City Centre on our way to MYER, passed a store called Satch which had a suit I liked in the window and a Sales on. Figuring we had nothing to lose, we ducked in. The salesman and the store was the absolute antithesis of Voi - he was knowledgable, professional (with a wicked sense of humour - gotta love gay boys serving you!) and in no time flat had me in a great suit, never using high pressure sales techniques with me, just expertise. He explained to me why the fabric of the suit he picked was the right one - it breathes wonderfully - took the time to make sure I had the absolute right size, and even headed back to the tailor's in MYER when the seamstress wasn't sure what he wanted done exactly. Awesome, swesome service!

Made all the better by the cool change hitting Sydney just as we emerged from Fish Records and driving all the noxious heat of the last week away... BLISS
