365 Pink Feather Boas All in a Row - Day 40 : Toko and the Coco Cubano

That less than flattering photo of me aside - who put all those wrinkles there and where is my Photoshop license to remove them?! - here I am holding a business card for Toko, an uber hip and trendy Japanese Izakaya restaurant located in Surry Hills, where I had dinner tonight with my beloved guy, Steve, and his good friend from Brisbane, Michael.

Michael was down for an orthodontists world conference (joking that the very straight world of orthondontics was unaware they had let a 'gay' in!; Ken, Michael's boyfriend has left a day earlier to go back to work), and when he wasn't in sessions, he made the most of being in Sydney, swimming laps with the Wet Ones (a gay swim club),  enjoying the night life, and catching up with close friends like Steve.

Steve has known Michael for a number of years (meeting him at Gay Ski Week - held every August), in between them catching up, Michael & I got to know each other, and he turned out to be a really sweet, friendly, intelligent guy with a ready wit. Exactly the sort of wonderful friend my gorgeous guy seems to attract in droves, which is testament to how lovely he himself is.

After eating duck, salmon, and sashimi at Toko, we headed to Coco Cubano on Taylor Square for dessert and coffee, where I had a totally fat free white chocolate and wildberry muffin - hahahahahaha!! Delusion, thou art my ever present soul mate!! - and Iced Blanco or Iced White Chocolate. The night was actually reasonably cool and time passed quickly, before we headed home about 10.30 (it was a school night after all!).

A wonderful night that made up for yet another harrowing, stressful Tuesday...
