Holding the Reins of the Runaway Extrovert 2013: Day 208 - Happy Birthday beautiful man!

Happy 50th birthday my beloved beautiful guy!

We started off with some breakfast at Carolyn and Ric's where we stayed before heading to Steve's mum and dad's from where we talked to the netball courts via a route Steve and his siblings used to go to school each day to see Stella play a comp game ...

Then we walked back to Steve's parents place, and Carolyn and I headed off to buy some balloons in a nearby suburb, finding some fabulous knitted trees on the way to the store ...

Then lunch of soup and hot dogs (the traditional Saturday repaste) at Steve's parents which including the presenting of his present (with a tag handmade by Steve's mum who loves making her own tags and cards) ...

Then Steve and I went back to Carolyn and Ric's, picked up the balloons and the cake, which looked AMAZING (and the lady who took my order a week ago was just as lovely in person) before taking them all to the restaurant Di Palmas in East Kew, just around the corner from Darren and Melissa ... and setting up the private room we had booked ...

From there it was off about 3.30pm or so by this time to the City to book into our self-serviced apartment opposite the Rialto where we were staying for the next 2 days ... we napped a little, got ready and headed into the restaurant for the fabulous birthday dinner ...

I had forgotten the candles and without asking DiPalmas stuck two sparklers in the cake. Customer service win!

... and here's a selection of the wonderful photos Carolyn (and the kids who had free rein of the camera at one point) took on the night ...
