Hands Full of Glitter and Tofu : 2011 Day 135 B (Sunday 15 May) - Cheesy Cheesiness

Yesterday we set off in search of macaroons.

Today it was cheese. Yes, cheese. Not my particular passion mind you since I am a sweet tooth through and through, but Kerry LOVES cheese - one of her favourite programs is Cheese Slices where a guy called Will Studd (yes, a real name!) travels the world eating cheese; yes he's thin annoyingly! - and so we set out at the infinitely more civilised time of 10.30 a.m. (compared to yesterday's 7.30 a.m. start) for Simon Johnson, Purveyor of Fine Foods, to check out all the yummy foods there and especially his fabled cheese room.

I didn't expect to enjoy the visit since fine foods stores aren't really my thing - I wondered if there was a book store nearby but alas no - but from the moment we found a parking spot almost outside the store, I had a ball. The staff, Janelle and Adrienne, were wonderfully down to earth, warm and welcoming, giving us complimentary cups of coffee and tea - loved the green tea I had; infused with pineapple, it was divine and I bought a box of it - and while Kerry subsumed herself in tasting all the cheeses on offer and buying a few, I chatted up a storm with Janelle, bought some clotted cream fudge from the UK (Fahmi bought me some on one of his trips and it's delicious!) and a special present for Kerry... we even came back after we'd walked out to give Adrienne a piece of the fudge since she remarked she hadn't tasted it...

Yes she lay on the floor of the cheese room to express her great love for cheese....amused everyone but good on her for not caring a fig what anyone thought!

A real delight and one of the best shopping experiences I've had in ages....

Back home and we threw ourselves into making the vodka jelly shots in German colours (Kerry), vacuuming and arranging chairs (me) and getting as much ready as we could before getting into the finishing touches like the decorations before everyone arrived.... busy but we had fun!

Then everyone arrived and the crazy fun of the Eurovision final began.....woohoo!!
