365 Pink Feather Boas All in a Row - Day 339 : Christmas Starts In Earnest (and He Likes it!)

It's no secret I LOVE Christmas (well unless you don't know me in which case that's a secret along with every last shred of information about me...but I digress....) and so tonight when my gorgeous guy and I decorated the tree, it kicks off what is my favourite time of the year. The Christmas blog has already been started, way ahead of schedule (chalk that up to the creative burst that writing my second novel in a month gave me), I have bought some presents and when my guy comes back from Bathurst this Wednesday, it'll be time for fish and chips and the Vicar of Dibley Christmas special which I adore (I am even typing this in while listening to Annie Lennox's fabulous new Christmas CD, 'A Christmas Cornucopia').

It all starts with boxes.... LOTS of boxes!

Inside the boxes are ornaments without number...

The lucky few selected for this year's tree... OK not so much a few, as, um, LOTS (using that word a lot!)

Unadorned but soon to be pretty, oh so pretty!

Attack of the Tinsel Monster!

My endlessly patient, creative guy making sure the tinsel is just so

Putting on one of the new ornaments in a totally unposed fashion

My gorgeous guy (handsome isn't he?) holding one of the new ornaments. Elmer Fudd as Santa, which fits my pop culture theme beautifully

Its as done as it's going to be tonight so time to pose like a Japanese tourist naturally

Magical glitter of the lights off my tree
But to truly good things, you need to work a lot too. So it was that hours before my guy came over, I was pulling boxes out from under my bed, putting up the tree itself, sorting through the boxes to pull out the ornaments of the many I own that will adorn the tree this year, and throwing some tinsel up on the bookcases. Once my lovely guy arrived, on went the lights first, the the tinsel (red, of course, my favourite colour) and then glitter ball silver baubles, and red and silver baubles. Finally on go the ornaments, but most of these will go on the tree tomorrow night since it was getting late by the time we'd finished setting the lights etc up. We did however have time to put on some of the new ornaments, including 2 new Hoops and YoYo ones, two irreverant Hallmark characters that have a special place in our hearts.

We even managed to find time for pizza and wine on the balcony.... a perfect night.
