Swimming Pretty in the Glass-Half-Full 2012: Day 280 - The BIG day arrives at last

After I had booked all the way back in April, the day Kerry, Steve & I had been looking forward to finally arrived ... Kerry's second big birthday dinner at Aqua, which is according to Kerry the "29th best restaurant in the world" and the best in Australia.

The food was certainly impressive with the most amazing delicious and exquisite mix of flavours in each dish ... and yes the Snow Egg deserves its divine reputation - we got the tasting menu ($220) + matching wines ($95) and while I have never paid that much for a meal and likely won't ever pay that much again, it was worth every cent - the service warm and friendly and spot on, and the views magnificent since we had a window seat which looked out on the Opera House and the Harbour with the Opera House out the other window behind us.

The meal lasted 5 hours and after 3 glasses of champagne before the dinner at my place, a cocktail when we got in and all the wine during dinner, we were well and truly drunk by the time we left the restaurant.

Awesome night! Now to pay it off :)

But before that we had brunch at Cafe Perci in Stanmore, which has new owners and was frankly more than a little bit disappointing - the French Toast was a shadow of its former self - but the company was excellent and after going to Newtown and picking up mags at Magnation and shopping for groceries (each trip by Kerry must include a trip to a car park and grocery shopping!) while Steve got his hair cut, we napped and rested while Steve went home to wash clothes etc.
