Sitting here wondering if I'm Pollyanna or Eeyore - Day 298: Yum Cha, mosques and Noah
Started the day off with Yum Cha with Ellen and Tracy at a new place in Hurstville - food was yum but think I prefer Rockdale or Palace in the City ...
Then off to Lakemba with Fahmi to see the mosque, which along with 11 other mosques throughout Australia was holding an open day as part of what was being called Unity Day. Fascinating to sit inside it with quite a few other people and listen to two very articulate Imams talk about their religion with grace and humour. It was a wonderful afternoon only spoiled by the aggressive sheikh (head religious figure of sorts) who decided to try and convert Steve and I on the spot and kept talking and talking and ... I left FURIOUS at this rudeness, a marked contrast to the friendliness and inclusiveness of everyone else we met including the lovely man who saved us from the sheikh's OTT proselytising. I calmed down while shopping food items with Steve and Fahmi in Lakemba (we picked some yummy curries for dinner along with a 2 kg bag of lentils for $4 and garlic/ginger 1kg jar for just $4.50!)
And lastly but no means leastly, here's an adorable shot of my brother Steve with his precious new son and my nephew Noah, both of them dead to the world. So cute.
