My wonderful writing group go away for a camp once a year - camp as in staying in a house, not tents thank goodness! - and this year headed off to Pearl Beach on the Central Coast.
I didn't want to go for the whole weekend thanks to way too many church camps as a child where I felt trapped - yep childhood issues still! - so opted for a day trip. Plan was to catch the train up but TripView belatedly revealed that the trains weren't running thanks to track work so my gorgeous guy who was only coming up for dinner drove me up there, and after one false turn (turns out I can't even read Google Maps!) we made it to the Japanese-influences house set among trees and so close to Pearl Beach it was a five minute walk to get there.
We had a BRILLIANT day. Walk to the beach with Wade, Mel and Michael followed by a delicious lunch of home made sandwiches, some blogging, lots of talking and file swapping, LOTS of laughter, silly dancing (thanks Jen!), gooing and gaahing over Jen and Simon's delightful daughter Piper, delicious BBQ dinner that Wade and I cooked (sausages, pineapple, onions, potato bake and salads, one of which Steve made up - mixed lettuce, olives, fetta, purple onion - YUM), home made ice cream Kris made and even a sheet fort made by Mel and Michael and part of a Dr Who episode.
We drove home the long way we think but got home just fine.
I had the loveliest day and definitely going for the full weekend next year!
