Today I didn't go to work.
What I did do is finally clean up my room after two months of tidying up triage, put things away, clean up, organise, and generally reclaim my home life from a barely controlled chaos. It feels good, and to celebrate the sparkling new clean room of mine, I headed to Bondi Junction Westfield, did some shopping (DVDs, 'Entertainment Weekly' mags @ Borders, and two books - two books I don't really need given the graveyard of unread books lining my bookshelves but hey, I hadn't gone a shopping outing of any kind for 3 months and just wanted a brief circuit breaker from my new frugality....it was fun!), and then I had lunch with my very good friend Justin in the food court, which was just delightful (both the food court and Justin, although I enjoyed Justin's company more!). We talked and talked for 2 hours over fish and chips and then coffee at Gloria Jean's (psst don't tell anyone since I am not supposed to go there on ethical grounds! LOL) - Justin is the loveliest of people, intelligent, engaging, warm and friendly and I value his friendship a lot. It was wonderful to spend some unhurried time with him.
Then I went home, swam 700m (my first swim in ages and greatly needed), and came back to finally construct my IKEA Benno DVD Tower after a month of it sitting in the corner of my bedroom. All the DVDs that had huddled like scared rats under my TV entertainment unit - no, I have no idea why scared rats would hide under a piece of furniture but that's the image that sprang to mind! - now have a home, and there's one less pile of homeless objects in my life..... yay!
Right now, after changing the sheets and vacuuming my room, I am waiting for my lovely beautiful sexy man to return from his week's work in Bathurst, and a dinner of Thai spent mostly kissing him and gazing into his eyes (assuming we don't drown in the heavy rain getting there!).
It's been a great day and can only get better....
